Charly Suggett for FLUX at London Collection: Men
Art, Architecture and the sub-cultures of London stood out as the strong influences for Oliver Spencer.
The self taught tailor showed his latest offerings at London Collections:Men to a foot pumping soundtrack including Amadou & Mariam and Gregory Porter delivered by actor Idris Elba on the decks.
Drawing inspiration from the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, splattered bleaching techniques were used on suiting and separates alike, giving a slight eighties feel. Over dying and other bleaching techniques were also used to reference the American artist and much of colour palette featured faded reds and navy blues with light greys and off whites for the fail safe shades. Garments also featured a blue jacquard similar to a tiling effect which proved an interesting juxtapose print to the following looks of splattered bleach.
Shoulders were soft and rounded, not too structured so to lend a hand to the more casual aesthetic which tied in nicely with the rolled up trouser hems, revealing a cheeky bit of ankle. The blazers were of an English cut with two vents at the back and the more casual styles of jackets featured double ended zips and exposed pocket bags which displayed the alluring little attentions to detail.
