Which is the best International Music Festival?

Whether you’re planning to combine a festival with a holiday or simply looking for that once in a lifetime gig experience, there’s no shortage of music festivals around the world. But which is the best International Music Festival 2014?

Here are just some of the music events that have rightfully earned their place in the world’s best music festivals list.

 

 

Ibiza Rocks

If you’re planning an Ibiza holiday in 2014 and want to enjoy one of the world’s best music festivals then the time to hit the island is June through to the middle of September. The party capital of the world is home to Ibiza Rocks in San Antonio and this festival features some of the biggest bands and international DJs over its 16 scorching summer weeks. Make sure that you book your tickets before arriving to guarantee that you catch some of the headliner DJs including Goldie, Pete Tong, Ms Dynamite and Zane Lowe.

Barcelona’s Primavera

Barcelona, one of Spain’s most vibrant cities is home to one of the world’s most famous festivals each year in late May and early June. Primavera is a huge musical festival in Spain and attracts artists from all around the world, with headliners in 2014 including St Vincent, Arcade Fire, Pixies and Nine Inch Nails. Well over 100,000 people descend on the Parc del Forum site each year, so ensure that you book your tickets early for the 14th edition.

Roskilde Festival, Denmark

Over 160 international acts are expected to appear at this year’s Roskilde Festival, with headliners such as the Arctic Monkeys, Damon Albarn, Major Lazer and Trentemoller taking the stage this 2014. As you’d expect from a festival with a history stretching back over three decades, this is one of the best- organized festivals and draws in more than 130,000 attendees each year. Expect musical diversity from rock to electronica to world music during the festival, which kicks off on 29th June and winds down on the 6th of July festival.

Burning Man Festival, Black Rock Desert, Nevada

This is arguably one of the world’s most famous festivals and a must-visit on any self-respecting festival lover’s bucket list. Nigh-on legendary in status, the Burning Man Festival pulls in over 50,000 participants each year; the event sold out last year so get those tickets early. This is an event where anything goes, money is not permitted on site and band sets can and will happen at any time from August 25th to September 1st. Believe the hype when it comes to Burning Man — expect mayhem and maybe a spiritual experience or two.

Pukkelpop, Belgium

The Belgian Pukkelpop festival has been attracting almost 200,000 attendees each year, thanks to its eclectic mix of bands ranging from rock to pop to punk and heavy metal. Running from the 14th to the 16th August, Pukkelpop takes place near the city of Hasselt close to Belgium and around 200 bands are expected to play on the eight stages. Early announcements for 2014 include Eminem, Neil Young, The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Franz Ferdinand and Skunk Anansie. Don’t miss it!
