First it was a book then a hit Swedish film now the darkly fascinating Let The Right One In hits London’s West End at the Apollo Theatre in its latest incarnation for the stage.
This is a moving tale centred around Oskar a troubled boy from a broken background. He feels at odds with the world.
He strikes up a friendship with a strange mysterious girl who has just moved in next door. Eli, it transpires, is a vampire and although herself an outsider amongst humankind she is anything but a victim. She has a power and confidence that Oskar can only dream of. The two misfits are drawn to each other and begin to fall into a strange kind of love.
Eli’s lust for blood though leads both of them on a journey that can only end tragically and it does. The mood is tense, dark and thrilling. The music really builds the atmosphere and plays with your emotions. This is a chilling and powerful love story that draws you in right to the dramatic climax.
The production is gathering much acclaim and glowing praise from critics. Luckily we have a pair of tickets for Let The Right One In on stage to give away as a prize.
