For its summer launch, untitled l’eau, Maison Martin Margiela has added a burst of citrus freshness to their radically original (untitled) fragrance with a new Martin Margiela perfume – untitled l’eau.
Taking its lead from the conceptual minimalism and artisan cool of the fashion house, an unusual double distillation process is applied to mandarin orange and lemon as well as to crushed leaves, whose woody, mossy accents resonate subtly with the fruit notes. With this olfactory ethos we get to cool and sparkling via lighter high notes.
This is definitely a fragrance we’re loving here at Flux. And the perfumer in charge of its creation, Daniela Andrier, remarks, “untitled l’eau proceeded naturally from (untitled), the first house perfume. I concentrated on refreshing coolness, allowing nothing to detract from its intensity. I simply took the existing fragrance and drenched it in water, making it even more invigorating and direct while adding an element of mystery.”
The bottle is again all Martin Margiela core values – hand-crafted with an artisan’s touch, whilst the fragrance itself is an almost luminous transparent green. Fantastic.
Martin Margiela perfume – untitled l’eau is available exclusively at Selfridges (100ml, £60).
