Professor Green and PUMA in your backyard

The power of social networking and the popularity of Professor Green was in action in Manchester last week.  PUMA had asked Professor Green fans to vote for the city they’d most like to see him perform in. Manchester won over London, Brighton, Dublin or Edinburgh. It was a resounding win for the city’s facebook and twitter users and the scene was set.

Voters were had the opportunity to win tickets to the exclusive 200 capacity gig. This meant a guaranteed loyal crowd turned out to see the British urban star. The excitement at this rare treat by the sportswear brand was unavoidable. The queues began forming outside two hours before the gig. Not to mention the massing in front of the stage and the t-shirt sales going on!

Night and Day is a great venue for this kind of thing. Worn down enough to be underground, cosy enough to be inviting and intimate. So it was a good choice by the voters for the ‘Bring Professor Green to your Backyard’ event.

The crowd had a fantastic energy. When Professor Green emerged on stage, the response was voiciferous. This was one of those gigs that felt like a party. No moody arms folded. More an arms in the air, singalong celebration. The UK voice of the Professor reflecting their lives back at the young crowd of dedicated fans.

PUMA have got a great Social Ambassador with Professor Green. His audience are the perfect market for the sportswear brand. And who can be cynical, when a brand is giving their audience what they want, and everyone is having such a fantastic time? And the latest news is that PUMA’s will be sponsoring the next round of the famous Warehouse Project parties. The sportwear brand would seem to have this northern city sewn up.

If you want to see the party, Channel 4 filmed the gig for a six part series following Professor Green and his team.
