This dark but gentle song from King Creosote and Jon Hopkins is given a nostalgic but disturbing twist by director Elliot Dear in this magical video. What do we see before us? Odd jarring images from childhood maybe or one of those strange dreams that has you hooked in but that disturbs you so much that you wake up in a sweat.
The floating images mirror the floating, haunting effect of the vocals on the song itself. Our fears and hopes, embodied in everyday objects, twist slowly towards us as if deep under the ocean surface. Elliot Dear captures the underlying gentle melancholia of the song in an array of imagery that impacts on your senses. The song itself is taken from their Honest Words EP that’s out now. The song itself featured in the video is a reworking of Bats In The Attic from their Mercury nominated and critically lauded first collaborative album, Diamond Mine.
