Noose and Monkey tailoring with a twist in the Age of Now

Noose and Monkey tailoring with a twist in the Age of Now – words Alan Woods

Noose & Monkey are part of a new breed of menswear brands that are creating a stir up and down the country. The brand really mix up old world and new, tailoring and street style.

Noose and Monkey tailoring is inspired by the story of a shipwrecked monkey that was discovered in Hartlepool during the Napoleonic wars. The French crew had dressed the monkey up in an officer’s military garb and the local populace thinking it was one of the enemy promptly hung him in the town square.

The brand like to twist up historic tailoring with down to earth street style. You can see touches of intricate luxury mixed with a flavour of cocky urchin. If you can imagine a dressed up debonair pirate, or a stylish gent who’s getting down and dirty with the riff-raff then you can get some of the picture. It’s an exuberant blend of fabrics, colours and eras but always masculine and contemporary.

They will be featuring as one of the key brands in the Age of Now a brand new retail concept that has been launched at House of Fraser stores including Manchester. The idea is to revolutionise the tired and dry world of men’s tailoring. You’ll know what I mean if you’ve walked into any high street tailoring department. So dull you can hear a pin drop. There will be no pushy sales people – they will be there to help you get dressed as sharply as you like. In conjunction with the Graffiti Kings the store walls will be a real canvass for genuine street artists to express their art as they wish. They are launching the idea with new up and coming brands such as Noose & Monkey who like to live life on the edge.
