Planning a day out in London can leave you spoilt for choice, as with the many boroughs, landmarks and things to do, it’s often difficult to choose what spot to explore first.
One area that’s not short of rich culture, beautiful architecture and trendy hospitality is Mayfair, and whether its fancy brunching you’re after or arty outings, there’s plenty to do and see in this London luxury destination. Here’s our guide on how to have a great day out in one of the city’s most luxurious spots.
Go for afternoon tea
Amongst the pristine brick townhouses and designer stores of Conduit street lies Sketch, a Mayfair restaurant and bar like no other, and definitely not one to miss when visiting Mayfair. Housed in an 18th century townhouse, Sketch is made up of multiple unique and quirky rooms all with their own distinctive charm. ‘The gallery’, decorated with the artwork of illustrator David Shrigley, is a picturesque paradise and a must see for lovers of all things pink. You simply have to see the Sketch pink room. Sketch stands apart from other trendy bars in Mayfair.
Get pampered
After a long day of shopping in the country’s capital, what better way to end your trip than with a stylish new hair do? There are plenty of top salons in London, and with one walk through Mayfair you’ll come across a bunch of hair and beauty salons offering a range of services. One of Mayfair’s local salons, Top1One, offers expert hair colouring and styling, as well as some top beauty treatments such as eyebrow and eyelash tinting to keep you looking your best.
Splurge on some wine
Attention wine connoisseurs everywhere! If you’re partial to a fine wine and are exploring Mayfair for the day, you need to make a pitstop at Hedonism wines. Boasting around 5,000 wines and 3,000 spirits from around the world, this luxury boutique with their knowledgeable staff is the perfect spot to check out to shop for that special bottle or two.
Check out some art
London as a whole is certainly not short of culture, so it’s no surprise that Mayfair is home to some of the city’s best contemporary art galleries. Halcyon gallery, Hauser and Wirth and White Cube Mason’s Yard are among some of the area’s top spots, having been home to artwork by some big British names like Tracy Emin and Damien Hirst. If you’re travelling with kids but still want to feed your cultural side, the Queen’s Gallery is a short walk from Mayfair and offers a range of fun activities and learning experiences for creative little ones.
