Wave Machines ‘Counting Birds’ – Music Video Release

This track & music video release from Wave Machines has the slightly skewed electronic pop feel that should make a reasonable assault on the charts. It has all the ingredients. It’s a touch sinister and dark in places but still has achingly catchy melodies. There is nothing stopping this hitting the pop target accept maybe current tastes helped along by Radio 1’s narrow playlist. Why do we publicly fund such a dismal commercial radio station by the way?

Anyway, the brooding and twisted video, from Wave Machines’ long-time art-director Scott Spencer and producer Token Films, makes an excellent accompaniment to the track. It reflects well the brooding under-your-skin nature of the song with its simple but effective idea of distorting and twisting the singer’s head until it creates abstract patterns that dance and gyrate along with the music. A glamorously, warped pop gem from the Wave Machines. Just how we like it.
