7 Ways To Stop Stress From Stealing Your Joy

words Alexa Wang

Stressful situations are inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you have to let them steal your joy. Stress can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental and physical health problems when unmanaged.

Life lacks balance when constantly stressed, so find ways to cope. You also find it hard to socialize or be productive when under stress. Here are ways to regain joy.

Try Delta 8 Gummies

Delta 8 gummies are a great way to reduce stress and improve mood. The gummies are made with delta 8 THC, known for its calming effects. The cannabinoid is less psychoactive, making you feel less high.

It’s excellent for those new to cannabis as it provides a clear-headed high. Start with a low dosage and increase as needed. The best time to take the gummies is before bedtime, enabling you to relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Get a Massage

Massage therapy reduces stress and anxiety. It can also improve sleep quality, increase energy levels, and boost immunity. If you can’t afford a professional massage, ask a friend or family member to give you a massage. Alternatively, try self-massage using a tennis ball or foam roller.

Connect with Nature

Spending time in nature reduces stress levels. Walking in nature reduces rumination, a repetitive negative thinking that triggers anxiety and depression. Connecting with nature also helps you appreciate the present moment and find joy in simple things.

Take a walk in the park, sit by a lake, or go for a hike in the woods. It also helps to invite nature into your home by adding plants or keeping the windows open to let in the fresh air.

Exercise

Exercise releases endorphins, hormones that improve mood and reduce stress. It also increases energy levels and improves sleep. A moderate amount of exercise is key to reducing stress. Over-exercising can increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Choose an activity you enjoy and make it a regular part of your routine. It can be anything from walking or cycling to work, playing tennis, or swimming.

Talk to Someone

Talking to someone about what’s stressing you out can reduce stress levels. Find a friend, family member, or therapist to talk to. The key is to find someone who will listen without judging. Just being able to express what’s on your mind reduces stress.

If you’re not comfortable sharing your thoughts with someone, write them down in a journal. Writing is cathartic, helping you make sense of your thoughts and feelings.

Take a Break

When stress is getting the better of you, take a break. It could be a mental break, such as reading or taking a  relaxing bath, or a physical break. Taking a break gives you time to reset and come back refreshed.

Taking a break also means indulging in activities that you enjoy. It could be anything from watching a movie to playing with your pet.

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment. It’s about observing your thoughts and feelings without judging yourself. Mindfulness enables you to appreciate life more and find joy in everyday experiences. It reduces stress by breaking the cycle of rumination.

To practice mindfulness, focus on your breath and pay attention to the sensations in your body. Use your senses to notice things around you. Be aware of your thoughts and allow them to pass without judgment. Meditation is an excellent way to practice mindfulness.

Find Joy In Small Things

Even as you practice these stress-relieving activities, find joy in the small things. It could be a cup of coffee in the morning, spending time with friends, or listening to your favorite song. When you appreciate the good things in life, it’s easier to find joy even when issues come up. Don’t forget to look at the stress, define it and find lasting solutions.
