Tabor and Villalobos are much in demand as highly creative jewellers and have won many plaudits for their fun and innovative approach. The objects they create with their modernist flavour and bold flowing organic forms are desired the world over by a growing audience of loyal devotees.
“[Tabor & Villalobos]… are prolific and in demand, both individually, and as a team, yet somehow, they are always playful and joyful with their artisanal approach to whatever project they embark upon. Their work is about the creation of beauty and the thought process that goes into rendering complex ideas.” – Diane Pernet
Now they’ve produced their first book Hic et Nunc published at 1-100 jewelry which contains their photography which is as exquisite as the jewellery pieces they dream up. It’s very limited run of 500 copies is published by Portal +. The first 50 are signed by the artists and include a signed silver gelatin print. The design and presentation of the book is seriously sumptuous and it includes 5 colour and 60 mono plates with forewords by acclaimed journalist and fashion guru Diane Pernet and respected production designer Thérèse DePrez.
The photographs in Hic et Nunc, collected from trips to Paris and Romania, were both inspiration for and inspired by Miguel Villalobos and Graham Tabor’s “Hic et Nunc” sculpture show. The show first exhibited at Brachfeld Gallery, Paris in 2010. The photos in Hic et Nunc play upon our relationship with the natural world. How we as humans interact and intervene in the natural landscape. We try to control these forces but in the end we are part of the natural world ourselves. This is a book full of inspiring images and a great insight into the creative minds that lie behind it.
