The Hip Store in Leeds is becoming a Northern focus for adidas special projects, and last week’s launch event for the AW’16 collection of adidas Originals Spezial proved the brand are happy to bring their big hitters North with photography by Nick Knight and Terry Hall on the decks. adidas SPZL here we go.
The new range was on display, alongside Knight’s lookbook imagery featuring Wolf Gillespie (son of Bobby) on modelling duties. THe night consisted of DJs including special guest Terry Hall, adidas branded beers and of course, lots of adidas followers and fans. With over 150 people passing through the doors, a lot of the exclusive pieces were snapped up on the night but you can still check out what’s left at the Hip Store.
The collection sees more iconic pieces rereleased or reimagined from the adidas archive re-imagined, the GT Manchester and Indoor Super being the talk of the night.
First launched in 2014 under the tutilage of adidas’ casual supremo, Gary Aspden (check out interview here), SPEZIAL pays homage to the iconic garments that have shaped the adidas brand over the years and gives them a contemporary update. This season’s collection takes inspiration from the Mod Trefoil – a logo that was used in the first season of SPEZIAL. For aw’16 we’re getting a blend of premium and technical fabrics to create the range of sweats, tees, jackets and trousers whilst we see some of the most iconic shoes of past years recreated, including the Indoor Super SPZL, GT Manchester SPZL and Harwood SPZL to name a few. Also check out the adidas SPZL atlanta and adidas SPZL garwen blue!
The adidas SPZL collection is available in store and online at The Hip Store now.
