If Alford & Hoff sound like a 1980’s detective duo, you’d be – well actually way off the scent. They are a duo, but hang their hats in a much more genteel genre. No spinning in Cortinas for these two. Try – I don’t know – swanning around perfumiers trying out combinations. Yes, Alford & Hoff is a men’s fragrance brand created by ex-athletes, Barry Alford and Jefferson Hoff.
Now there’s another thing. When you say athlete-perfumiers you imagine the end result is something aimed at sweatband donning, muscly, gym goers. And in fact that is not right at all either. Because our duo have been working with renowned perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan to create their second fragrance, Alford & Hoff No. 2 Eau de Toilette and there’s not a headband or pair of taut shorts in sight.
Alford & Hoff No. 2 Eau de Toilette follow on the heels of the Alford & Hoff signature fragrance which was lauded for its sexy, complex, light and dark effect. The ingredients of the new No. 2 read like a trip around the world and back including top notes of calabrese bergamot, indian hand citrus, Thai black basil and Morroccan rosemary; mid notes of Guatemalan cardamon, Jamaican nutmeg and Laotian star anise; and base notes of cedarwood, oak wood absolute and patchouli.
The results is an innovative, masculine scent with marine and mineral notes, in a woody base with citrus and fruity tones. The packaging is cold and cool with the pale blue liquid in a classic glass cylinder with a silver lid. Lighter and cleaner than its predecessor, we really like this sporty second launch from the duo. Get down the counter and give it a spray. We’re sure you’ll be impressed.
