Most Important Questions to ask a Business Telecom Provider

Are you unhappy with the service that your current Business Telecom Provider is providing you with? If this is the case, you need to take action and hire a company that will give your business the quality of service you are looking for.

There is no reason you should be forced to accept substandard service month after month when you expect and deserve much better than that. However, it will require some work on your part to secure the services of a company that will not let you down like your current provider has done. Here are some of the most important questions to ask a business telecom provider.

Will you be able to test the services of the company without risk?

This should be the first question that you ask any telecom provider that you are thinking about hiring. The ability to test out their services for a trial period without any risk could potentially prevent some major headaches in the future. It would also spare you from having to pay an early termination fee if you are eventually unsatisfied with the telecom provider’s services. The ideal situation for your business is to be able to use a telecom provider’s services for a limited period of time. One month will be long enough for you to be able to determine if the provider’s services are adequate for the needs of your business. You will agree on the rates for the services during this time. However, no contract will be agreed upon for this trial period. You are under no obligation to continue using the provider’s services. You will be able to cancel their service at any time during the first month without paying any sort of early termination fee. Not all telecom providers will agree to give you a trial period to test out their services. They will want you to sign a contract immediately. Contact many providers to see which ones will agree to a trial period.

Does the telecom provider offer the services your business needs?

The number of services offered in the telecom industry these days is truly staggering. This is a good thing and a bad thing. It is good because you will be able to get the services you need for any type of business you are running. It is bad because many telecom providers bundle many of these services together and charge you for them. You will still need to pay for these services if you have no intention of using them. This is similar to the way that cable TV providers force you to pay for many channels that you have no intention of ever watching. First, you will need to look at a complete list of the specific services that are offered by the provider. These companies vary when it comes to what they offer. For example, are you in need of business phone systems? What about cloud VoIP or Microsoft Skype for business? You will also need to take a close look at the bundling practices of any telecom company you are thinking about dealing with. You do not want to be forced into a situation where you are paying for services that you do not want or need. This is a waste of money that needs to be avoided. If you are thinking about hiring a business telecoms provider, you might want to consider also looking to hire a network consultant, together they can really make a difference.

Is there any benefit to making a longer commitment?

Every telecom provider wants to lock their customers into a long-term contract. You may have found a provider that has all of the services you want. They might be willing to agree to give you a trial period to test these services. However, you should also inquire about their policy when it comes to signing a long-term contract. There are some VoIP business providers that will reward their customers who are willing to show faith in them by agreeing to a long-term contract. This reward comes in the form of a reduced rate. In other words, you will pay less money for their services in exchange for locking yourself in for an extended period of time. Some providers are willing to do this because they see it as beneficial to their bottom line to have clients under long-term contracts.

Has the provider experienced any significant downtime?

It goes without saying that you only want to associate yourself with a telecom provider that has a very reliable network. Your business will not be able to function if you experience frequent network outages. You should only subscribe to a telecom company with a proven track record of dependability where their network is concerned.
