Autumn Events to show off that new outfit

Autumn Events to show off that new outfit – words Alexa Wang

There’s nothing worse than buying yourself a rather swish new outfit and then realising that you have nowhere to show it off

If it ever happens to you take a leaf from my book. Why wait I say. Find that delightful party or evening function, grab a partner and invite yourself. There are lots of events you can get tickets to that should help lift the spirits and enable you to show off that new outfit like these ones from Quiz Clothing. Here some of our favourite coming up this autumn:

Make a Wish Winter Ball

The Dorchester, London

What better way to show off your gown than a trip to a real life ball. You can imagine yourself as Cinderella and even take along your own Prince Charming (or try and meet one there). The Make a Wish Winter Ball is a real extravaganza and takes place in the sumptuous surroundings of The Dorchester in London. You will get to rub shoulder with stars of stage and screen and enjoy a 4 course meal – best of all the money all goes to a great cause.

Breaking the Code

Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester

I love nothing more than dressing up for a night at the theatre. To be and be seen is of course all part of it and a pre or post theatre dinner and drink is of course essential. The Royal Exchange Theatre is one of the best theatres in the country. If you can imagine a space pod inside a grand Victorian building you’re half way there. Their latest production is ‘Breaking the Code’ – the story of Alan Turing and his work at Bletchley Park that helped us to victory in the Second World War. It’s a great production and offers us an insight into the extraordinary man and the dark times he lived in.

Beyond Caravaggio

The National Gallery, London

The National Gallery in London are showing some of the most sumptuous of that ever popular 17th Century painter. These are lavish works that love to tell a story in rich colour. The surroundings are grand too. If you can’t blag you’re way into the private view or evening showing then just go late in the day then you and your date can go onto one of the very nice restaurants nearby. You get a bit of culture and the chance to try out our new outfit.

The Turner Prize

Tate Britain, London

If the classics aren’t your style and you yearn for something more then why not get yourself down to The Turner Prize show. It always generates a nice bit of controversy with The Sun, The Mail and The Express all queuing up and foaming at the mouth to ridicule and rage. This year the big talking point is a rather large sculpted bottom you can wall into. Sounds good fun to me. Great for your new frock too with either a date or some friends. Why not all dress up and then off to cocktails afterwards to make a night of it?
