Hotel Normandy – French Sex and the City on Steroids? Film Review

Recently widowed Alice Lacorre, is sent on a weekend art biennale in Normandy for her birthday by two work colleagues in order to recapture her desire.

She doesn’t, however, know of her friend’ underhanded scheme to have a man, who has been sent a list of her loves and interests, to woo her.

Needless to say, the plan doesn’t run smoothly. Twists and turns ensue, and Alice’s, played by the voluptuous Héléna Noguerra, knickers remained tangled… just about. She falls for art collector and businessman Jacques Delboise but their love remains delicately un-consecrated. At which point dark horse Yvan makes his play.

There’s comic value in Hotel Normandy, especially with Ary Abittan who plays Yvan, and clever, possibly one too many, plot turns. Charles Nemes’ film is a flurry of meet cutes: if you like a Sex and the City on steroids.
