Launching People Initiative – Rankin, Paloma Faith and Idris Elba mentor new creative talent

If you seriously fancy yourself as a talented young creative and you’re just looking for that one chance that could spark off your career than this initiative could be the answer.

Samsung has developed the Launching People scheme and it aims to do exactly what it says on the tin.

This is no idle boast – not only is it backed by the electronics giant but the mentors they have on board are truly inspirational. Plus the whole process of finding the pick of the next generation of innovators is to be filmed and screened for Sky TV.

The calibre of the mentors gives you a sense of the energy and thought that has gone into this project. The photographer and co-founder of Dazed & Confused, Rankin is mentoring on the photography side. Paloma Faith will bring her experience and knowledge to the music side and Sunday Times food guru and chef Guzzi Erskine will provide inspiration for up and coming gourmets.

They will be trawling the country for young people with the potential to stand out with their creative talent. They will work with one of the mentors on an innovative project and the whole thing will be filmed for the television series that follows.

For young budding film directors, writers and actors they will be lucky enough to have Idris Elba as their mentor. Idris won many plaudits for his recent portrayal of Nelson Mandela and was a powerful screen presence in seminal series The Wire. He is keen to find someone that can prove themselves and inspire others.

“If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams. If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”

If you want to take part in what could be a life changing experience in the Samsung Launching People Initiative then pitch your project via the website at www.launchingpeople.co.uk before 6th March 2014.
