For many years children have been building up and knocking down towers, boats and ships made from LEGO bricks and parents have been going through excruciating pain whilst trying to clean up said bricks, which have a canny knack of finding the most tender spots on feet.
However in 2014 LEGO announced the release of the LEGO Architecture Studio. This is a new generation of LEGO for adults with bricks that are aimed at architects and designers in particular.
The set consists of over 1,200 pieces and 76 distinctive parts that make it up. It was designed to give students and creatives the opportunity to work with building materials and create their own style and structures.
What Can It Be Used For
The most common use for the new LEGO architecture is going to be an educational and building platform that will allow students, and other people interested in architecture and design, an opportunity to experiment and practice their skills.
It offers a platform for a whole new generation of individuality and uniquely inspiring property and building designs. Who knows, maybe you will be looking at a LEGO model if you are wanting to sell your home in the future.
However, it is not just a simple building block and in some places it is being used as a lot more.
Students at the Villa Pennisi in Musica were given the opportunity to build much bigger things with the LEGO Architecture building blocks. To be exact- they were asked to create life size replicas of real life objects using their LEGO Architecture Sets. The sets will be created to amplify sound, and the structures that do the best job will be chosen to repair the damage done to the famous Teatro Bellini of Acrileale, which was destroyed by a devastating fire in the 1960s.
How Will It Affect The Property Market?
The bottom line is that there is very little chance that the LEGO Architecture set will be used as legitimate building materials in the property market anytime in the near future.
However it has provided a great asset for developers and architects to learn about structures. It is an extremely successful creative system that also acts as a learning aid for the people who will be involved in the future of the property market all over the world.
Just as importantly though- it allows us, as adults, to unashamedly play with LEGO.
