Life can get pretty hectic when you’re a working mom. It may seem like the world moves extremely fast, making it feel almost impossible to get everything done. Busy moms rarely have moments to themselves because they’re always putting the needs of everyone else above their own. Without making time for themselves, working mothers can end up feeling stressed, tired, depressed, anxious, and burnt out, so it’s important to start making time for yourself starting today.
Buy Proper Fitting Clothing
Good clothing can make you feel instantly better sometimes. You might feel like you’re stuck in the same routine, just throwing on whatever to wear and not giving it much thought. This is especially common if you’re a mom that works from home. You may not even choose to get dressed half the time because it’s a lot easier to just crawl out of bed and start working.
Whenever you do leave the house, choose clothing that fits you properly and try to build a complete outfit out of your selections. Simple jeans with a blouse matched with platform shoes for women can be a great start. Then you can add some accessories such as a nice statement necklace and some simple earrings. Finish the look off with a matching handbag and you’re ready to go.
Develop a Skincare Routine
Self-care should start first thing in the morning with a skincare routine. You may just be a splash of water on the face and go type mom, but you should take some time to develop a routine and use the right products for your skin. You’ll want to start with a gentle cleanser to remove any environmental pollutants to avoid clogged pores. There are cleansers available for each skin type, so make sure you choose the right one.
A good toner should come next. This removes anything that the cleanser failed to remove. Toners also provide extra nutrients that your skin desperately needs. The purpose of this step is to remove dead skin cells, boost hydration, calm irritation, reduce redness, and fight exposure to free radicals that may age your skin. A moisturizer should be used after the toner to hydrate and soften the skin. There are moisturizers for the morning and some for the night, which provide different benefits.
Eat a Healthy Diet
Most people already know that they have to eat a healthy diet to feel better overall, but bad habits can be hard to break sometimes, especially when you have a lot going on. It could make a difference in your life if you set aside time each week for meal prepping. You don’t have to go completely overboard with prepping breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you don’t have the time for that, but you can at least focus on dinner and maybe plan your snacks too.
Meal prepping can make life easier for you because you’ll have the meal already made, you just need to heat it, and then it’s ready to eat. Just about any type of meal works for meal prepping, so you can keep it simple or get creative.
Get Regular Exercise
Exercise is important for everyone, and it’s recommended that individuals get at least 150 minutes per week. It may seem almost impossible to add that to your already chaotic schedule, but if you break it down, it’s only 30 minutes a day, five days a week. The good news is you don’t have to do it all at once. You can split it up and do 15 minutes on your lunch break and then the other 15 after work or whenever it makes the most sense for you.
Just like your family is important, you are important too. Your needs matter and should be taken care of to avoid depression and burnout. Everyone deserves some “me time,” so make sure you’re taking that time for yourself whenever possible.
