Branding was key at Shaun Samson. Big, bold, black and white in towels and underwear contrasted against soft and supple sheer organza shapes.
The Los Angeles born designer has lived up to the high expectations that come with being one of the hottest tickets during the Men’s Collections.
We were treated to feather light multi layered chiffon jackets with raw edges, enabling it to move more fluidly with movement in slate greys, black and powder pinks accompanied by long shorts in similar shades. The West-coast style was demonstrated with towels wrapped around the models waists, Lanyard bracelets worn on the wrists and neoprene oversized tops with wide raglan sleeves and very rounded shoulders, almost as if they’d just emerged from the water with their hair still wet.
Along with the chiffon floats and the neoprene structures, the looks were paired with stiff wool trousers and shorts with dipped metallic hems or waistlines to compliment the lurex knitwear which came from a collaboration with a French knitwear company. This aids the fascination with using a multitude of fabrics that Shaun Samson has continued to make his trademark style to this day and to help to paint a visual picture in your mind of his mood and the place he calls home. Just hanging out when the sun is setting, a light breeze tapping the raw edges of your jacket and watching the world start to slow down around you as you wind down.
