Sometimes you just want to be in the arms of the one you love. We’ve all been there.
That powerful emotion is the driving force behind the track ‘Need Someone’ by Stubborn Heart from their forthcoming eponymous debut album. It’s a nice slow build this track that allows the words to shine out and have their impact.
It is backed by a sparse but intricately layered production and features nice snappy off kilter beats. I like the growling feedback noise that add that extra bite as the track builds to its climax.
The video has a power all of its own but complements the music and the words with a subtle force. It’s directed by the world renowned photographer and filmmaker Elaine Constantine (who put Kate Moss on the fashion map back in the day with her gritty documentary style).
The band work with some diverse influences including 80s and 90s electronic pop through to 60s and 70s soul music. They then they put this through their own style blender to come up with a modern 21st century electronic based style that has a strong beating heart at its core.
The album is out on 5th November on One Little Indian. They’ll be out on the road for some selected dates in November. For full dates see their website www.stubbornheart.com
