Melee Weapons OSRS

Trying to find the best melee weapons Old School RuneScape? We’ve got you covered.

Old School RuneScape has a heck of a lot of weapons to choose from, and the worst part is that there isn’t a clear-cut answer as to which is the “best”. As a result, the process of choosing your weapon can be a complicated one.

Nonetheless, having the cream of the crop of weapons in OSRS is important if you want your character to progress and complete more missions/quests in the game. We’ll be talking about the best melee weapons in OSRS today – whether you prefer the one-handed or two-handed melee weapons, don’t fret, because there’s something here for everyone. Some of the ones listed down below will require a good amount of OSRS gold to get them, while others can be acquired through rare drops.

Dragon Scimitar

Also known as “ol’ reliable”, the Dragon Scimitar needs no introduction – it’s been the weapon of choice for countless players thanks to its fashionable design and cost-effective damage input. It can be used by players who have 60 Attack and completed the “Monkey Madness 1” quest. The Dragon Scimitar is also by far the most accessible weapon on this list so far, as it can easily be bought for 100k OSRS gold from Dagaz in Ape Atoll.

For PvP enthusiasts, the sword has a neat, special attack called “Sever”; at the cost of 55% of your special attack energy, this attack hits with increased accuracy and prevents the target from casting “Protect from Melee/Magic/Missiles” prayers.

Abyssal Dagger

Ah yes, the single most powerful dagger in all of OSRS; of course, we had to include it on this list. This coveted little weapon isn’t just the best dagger in the game, it’s also been crowned as the best 1-handed strength trainer due to its high DPS, making it a great choice for many players that are looking for a reliable weapon. The Abyssal Dagger requires 70 Attack to be wielded and enemies can also be poisoned with it over time. On average, a player has a 20% to receive this weapon when using the unsired on the Font of Consumption. This weapon exceeds even the Staff of the Dead in terms of Strength and Accuracy, making the wielder a force to be reckoned with.

Saradomin Godsword

The Saradomin Godsword is best known as the weapon of Commander Zilyana in the God Wars Dungeon. It can be obtained as a drop from the Commander or any of her bodyguards. This two-handed sword requires the player to have an Attack of 70 to wield its power. What makes the Saradomin Godsword (or Sara Sword, for short) unique lies in its attack speed. Compared to other two-handed weapons, the Sara Sword has an attack speed of 4, making it every bit as fast as some of the most beloved melee one-handlers such as the Abyssal Whip. The weapon can also be augmented by attaching Saradomin’s Tear to create the Blessed version that boasts +6 Strength bonus, +18 Slash, as well as an updated special attack. If you think you don’t have the luck to make Commander Zilyana or her bodyguards drop the weapon, you can make the sword yourself by combining 3 Godsword shards and a Saradomin Hilt, both of which can be found in the God Wars Dungeon.

Abyssal Whip

The Abyssal Whip is one of the best one-handed melee weapons in Old School RuneScape, period. It’s also the preferred weapon of players training up this specific skill (Melee); players are required to have an Attack level of 70 to handle the Abyssal Whip. You can get this weapon as a rare drop from the Abyssal Demons, but to face them, you must already have at least 85 Slayer. It’s the perfect weapon to power up your OSRS account.

Dragon Claws

Dragon Claws are most well-known for their special attack, “Slice and Dice”, which deals high amounts of damage with gusto. Players use this weapon mainly for consistency, and luckily, there are a couple of ways to go about getting them. Dragon Claws can be obtained as a rare reward upon completion of the raid in the Chambers of Xeric, but if you’d rather craft them, you can do by using the Smithing skill.

No matter what your playstyle is, there’s a weapon for everyone that’s playing Old School RuneScape. Some of the best weapons can only be acquired by completing difficult tasks, while others can be bought with OSRS GP. What do you think of the melee weapons that we’ve talked about?
