The Red Shoes performed by Tangerino and London’s freshest new talent

Tangerino is a young and innovative events company that offers Londoners the chance to spend an evening immersed in some of the city’s freshest new talent.

Founded last year by Lil and Kitty Rice the sisters set out to create events that would showcase the work of the young artists, musicians and circus performers who surrounded them at college.

Their first show ‘The Ugly Duckling’ took place last June. Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story guests experienced a night of live music, contemporary artwork and circus performance put on by students and recent graduates from The National Centre of Circus Arts and London College of Communication.

Following their debut the sisters launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in order to fund their next event The Red Shoes performed by Tangerino which will be taking place in the Waterloo Vaults from the 22nd-24th July. Again inspired by an Anderson tale the tunnels under Waterloo will be transformed into a haunting fairytale land where the worlds of art, circus, singing and theatre collide.

Part promenade, part circus show guests will be led through the eerie tunnels to witness the work of 16 circus acts, artists and musicians who have been working closely together over the last 6 months in order to create 3 nights of remarkable entertainment. Young contortionists, acrobats and rope artists have been carefully paired up with contemporary live musicians and illustrators in order to produce original collaborative pieces in response to one of five themes taken from ‘The Red Shoes’ fairytale.

From ‘Vanity’ to ‘Condemnation’ the evening promises to be an emotional and sensory feast that transports the audience to another world whilst not forgetting down-to-earth needs: there will be a well-stocked bar on standby. If you’re looking for a packed night of innovative art and performance that supports young acts from across London then ‘The Red Shoes’ is the place for you.
