Unsigned Only – International Music Competition

If you’re a singer, artist or band starting out and you’re looking for that helping hand to lift you onto that important next level then this music competition is for you. Unsigned Only looks the real deal and has been set up by the same team behind the International Songwriting Competition. It’s aimed at solo artists, bands and singers who are not signed to a major label or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries or imprints. To try and put it in a nutshell they are looking for outstanding, creative talent whether they are a newcomer or a veteran, raw or polished. A hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

When we were approached about being involved we were fully behind it and ended up as media sponsor. The winners will each receive prize money of $5000 but that is only the start of it. This music competition has some serious weight behind it. The judging panel includes such luminaries as Cyndi Lauper; Robert Smith (The Cure); Kelly Clarkson, & the producer Steve Lillywhite. But on top of that and for the first time ever winners will get direct input, advice and mentoring from some of the most powerful and knowledgeable figures in the music industry right now. Some of the mentors they have signed up are impressive and include Monte Lipman (President of Universal Republic); Pete Ganbarg (Executive Vice President/Head of A&R, Atlantic Records); David Wolter (Senior VP of A&R, RCA Records) and the list goes on and on.

If that sounds like you then take a look on the website for further information on how to take the next step forward. The deadline is fast approaching on March 5th 20102. All entries must be original music except for the Vocal Performance category which accepts original or cover songs. Judging criteria in the Vocal Performance category will be based solely on the quality of the vocals, thereby allowing singers who do not write their own songs the opportunity to enter.
