KISS made such an impression on me when I was younger. I was taken aback when I first saw images of the band staring out at me from the shelves of the local record store.
The deranged face paint, the characters and the sheer mystique surrounding the band was quite legendary. Kids young and old talked in hushed tones about the band that never showed their faces to the public. Then there was the blood spitting and fire breathing stage antics. Their notoriety preceded them.
This was a band I just had to hear. If their music was anything like the imagery then it’d be something special, something shocking. Imagine my surprise when I finally heard their songs scratch into life. It was soft melodious rock and nothing like the venomous devil music I had concocted in my head. This just shows you though how powerful the mystery was that the band had woven around themselves.
Now with a twist of fate the Kiss imagery has been reinterpreted for a new generation of style hungry fashion people. The gifted design team at Volcom have come up with some limited edition designs of world conquering proportions. So you too can now assume one of the KISS personas be it The Demon, The Starchild, The Catman or The Spaceman. The KISS and Volcom collection brings the four iconic faces onto the label’s signature full zip hooded sweatshirt and sock puppets and the resulting garments are something special. There is a real mischievous devilry here that should give the wearer a kind a swagger not seen in full flow since the KISS heydays of the eighties.
