Workout Equipment That Doesn’t Make You Go Bust

words Al Woods

Working out from home is becoming a preference for many – no gym membership fees, being able to workout whenever you’d like and being able to choose the equipment that suits your needs and goals. But creating your own home gym can be expensive.

There are various types of gym equipment you can choose to get the best results for the fraction of the price, whether you’re looking for the best elliptical for a specific budget, weights to tone and improve strength, or skipping ropes to work on your cardio fitness. We’ll look at gym equipment that won’t break the bank below.

Workout Equipment

Resistance bands

These are one of the best pieces of equipment to have in your home gym. Resistance bands can be used for a whole range of exercises to help you improve strength and tone your body. They come in a range of lengths and thicknesses so you can tailor your workout to suit your needs – whether you use them in conjunction with weights, or you use them to enhance your body weight workouts. The best thing about resistance bands is that they are incredibly affordable and can be stored easily so they won’t take up any unnecessary space. You could even take them with you on the go! Resistance bands are a must-have if you’re just building your home gym.

Gliding discs

If you’re on a budget, or you’re working with a particularly small space, these gliding discs could be another great option. They are another affordable option that you can use for a range of workouts, whether you’re focusing on your upper body, legs or back. They can work particularly well when used as part of body weight workouts, can simply be placed in any workout space, and stored easily when you’re done – it’s that simple!

Skipping ropes

An old-school classic, the skipping rope is underrated when it comes to working out. This simple but effective piece of equipment is both fun and a great way to get your heart rate up! It’s cheaper and takes up less space than a treadmill but skipping for 30 minutes burns calories easily and allows you to have a bit of fun whilst doing it. You can skip indoors if you have space, or head outside to get some fresh air during your workout. A skipping rope is also easy to store, and you can take them with you to keep up your exercise routine when you’re away from home.

Ab wheels

If you’re tired of normal crunches, you can use an ab wheel to get a good, sculpting exercise without having to endure the boredom that most of us find with sit-ups. But it’s not just your abs that this roller targets, but your back, arms, and shoulders. The roller itself is a small wheel with two handles on each side. You must kneel on the floor, grip the handles, and roll your body forward. You’ll feel this motion in your core – and that’s how you’ll know it’s working! It takes up little to no room, you’ll just have to find somewhere to store it when it’s not in use.

Dumbbells

You may need a little more room to house your dumbbells but buying them won’t break the bank. You can buy simple weights on a rack that can be stored easily – and you can choose a set to help you reach your goals. They do tend to vary in price, but if you’re looking for simple weights that get the job done, your options won’t be too limited. If you’re looking to invest, you could choose adjustable weights, which are more expensive than your run-of-the-mill dumbbells, but they are compact and easy to store, and instead of needing several sets of weights, you only need two dumbbells that can be adjusted as you get stronger! A space saver that will also benefit your fitness journey.

Taking Care of Your Equipment

Building a home gym is an investment in your health, but like any investment, it requires proper maintenance to last. Over time, even affordable, high-quality equipment can experience wear and tear, particularly if used regularly. Knowing where to find the best fitness equipment repair services near you can make a big difference in prolonging the life of your gear. Whether it’s ensuring your adjustable dumbbells stay secure, your ab wheel rolls smoothly, or your gliding discs retain their glide, regular maintenance will keep your workouts on track without additional unexpected costs.

Ensuring your equipment is in top condition can help you avoid injuries and get the most from your workouts, making maintenance as important as the equipment itself.
